Mahaica Challenge Team: Day 2

Day 2. No TV interviews. Mahaica is a smaller town out in the country of Guyana. It isn't in the jungle, but more they country. There are plenty of farms and fields. Houses are spread out and there is a system or ditches (arroyos) that follows the streets everywhere. Because of this you have to drive over a good sized pond to get to every house.

We visited a farm belonging to one of these families of the church. It took me right back to my days visiting my grandpa up in Michigan with all his crops planted! Rows and rows of fruit and vegetables that were ready to be eaten and all you need to do is reach out and grab! How great the garden of Eden must have been!

We did a lot of 'visitation' ministry today. We went around the neighborhood visiting people who at some point have come to the church or that the pastor knows somehow. Many of them are elderly people who I imagine have quite a bit of trouble getting to church. To be honest, it was a little awkward. We didn't know any of these people, and they didn't seem to be too interested in talking. We prayed for everyone after visiting them and my prayers felt so little and powerless. But I need to remember that God promises to listen to our prayers when we call on Him.

We had a short service in the evening, but we had one on the third day as well so I'll sum it all up then! This was a harder day for me, but the encouragement from the pastor and one of the families from the church was great!
